conceived emptiness of an infinite space

Eelco: So... you ever had sex with two girls?

torben: Can i have another beer please?

e: "The Girls"; it's the song that's most suitable for airplay in clubs etc. Will you release this one as a single?

twn: We thought about it. 'Friends We Used To Know' and 'The Girls' are our favourite options for single releases. Let's see what happens.

e: Besides the mentioned songs, "Amaroid" doesn't really offer a lot of club-orientated songs. Do you think that would make it harder to promote the album?

twn: Definitely. You don't need to be Barry Gordy to know that club play is a very important factor in music marketing. It's just, sometimes you're feeling the club vibe, sometimes you don't. There's no push. People who are buying records only to have a piece of music they can dance to, tend to not buy our records, anyway.

e: Congratulations on the new album though. I hardly saw bad critics about it, I believe the sales are going pretty okay. Are you satisfied with it yourself?

twn: So far, the reactions have been great. I'm thankful for that. Now we're all eager to present the album live.

e. Do you think it's hard to write an album based on earlier releases? I mean, do you look back at your previous releases and think 'I want to improve that and that' or say 'now I'm gonna write and I'll see what comes out'?

twn: We're not the ones with the master plan. If there was anything coherent, it would be syntax errored by temper and hallucination all the time.

e: Is there a specific theme on the album?

twn: There is a source of inspiration stretching over the whole album. The idea of exploring and tapping emptiness, the metaphoric emptiness inside yourself and the conceived emptiness of an infinite space.

e: Can you tell me something about the artwork?

twn: I liked the idea of working with transparent material in the booklet. The see-through elements shall symbolise a half-revealed, half-blurred mind exposure and they also create an additional value for people who buy the record. At least I think they do...

e: It is a long album, with a bit over 70 minutes. Did you intend to write such a long album?

twn: 'Amaroid' was in fact meant to become even longer. Towards the end of the production phase we decided to drop two songs that seemed a bit fluffy compared to the rest. I never intended to make it a marathon album, there was just too much material in stock.

e: What are your plans for the upcoming period?

twn: We're working on our next release(s) and trying to fix some more live dates.

e: Something else then, I've heard a lot of things about a possible "Re:Pale"; a remix-album/best of compilation. Can you give me anymore information about that?

twn: It's gonna be a collection of various items, new versions of earlier songs, plain remixes and bonus tracks. If everything finds its way, it'll be out in early october.

e: Thank you for the interview!

twn: Thanks to you as well and greetings to everybody.
