Community Interview: Diorama
- aus südafrika -

_AA_: When you were kids, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Torben Wendt: A private investigator.

_AA_: What is your opinion on the current state of affairs in Iraq?

TWn: So many lies, so much ineptitude. I just hope that the Bush Administration will be seriously impeached or somehow be made accountable for the terrible mess they'’ve created.

_AA_: Did you know about DarkLight before we contacted you?

TWn: I don’'t think I did.

_AA_: Are you full time musos or do you have day jobs? If so, what are they?

TWn: Some of us have regular jobs, which isn’t really exciting to talk about. Speaking for myself, I’'m currently concentrating on music production, in the context of Diorama and Diary [of Dreams] as well as for TV/radio commercials. Over the last few years, I've also had a good deal of side jobs, mostly in bars, to help my liquidity along.

_AA_: What is the wierdest thing that has ever happened to you at a gig?

TWn: I can't remember which festival it was, but they forgot to set up my microphone on stage which turned the first song into an instrumental version. :)

_AA_: What is the wierdest question you've ever been asked in an interview

TWn: The next one.

_AA_: At what age did you lose your virginity?

TWn: 17.

_AA_: How many stalkers have you had and what did your stalkers do?

TWn: I never really got into the focus of stalkers.

nebe: Do you prefer live gigs to making albums in the studio?

TWn: Both aspects are essential to make the whole thing work for me. I cannot give preference to one or the other.

nebe: Which venue/concert did you enjoy the most?

TWn: Concerts abroad are the most challenging ones, especially in areas where - without the music - it would be much less self-evident to pop in, like Russia, South America or of course South Africa.

paramagnetisches-wesen: How do you prioritize your time and attention now that you and NamNamBulu created the band Frozen Plasma?

TWn: We're trying to give both bands the space and time they demand. it’s not about priorizing, rather about organizing.

paramagnetisches-wesen: What made you create another band that falls in the same genre as Diorama?

TWn: For Felix, frozen plasma means an additional outlet for creativity. Besides, both bands bring up different stylistic emphases within the electro genre. it's definitely not just the same music with different protagonists.

paramagnetisches-wesen: Will there be an album to accompany you latest EP Synthesize Me?

TWn: Yes. The album is called a different life and will be released on March 23rd 2007.

Volgaroth: Who were your idols/mentors while you were growing up?

TWn: The first artists I found real inspiration in were Colin Vearncombe of black, Pet Shop Boys and Pink Floyd.

Volgaroth: What do you feel makes Diorama what it is today?

TWn: The continuous cumpulsion to convey thoughts and emotions into music.

Volgaroth: Whats next for Diorama?

TWn: A series of concerts in 2007 and maybe another release accompanying a different life.
