DIORAMA - Synthesize Me

Diorama is a band that quickly conquered a place of it’s own away from underneath the wings of Diary of Dreams. The talent of Torben Wendt deserves the most credit for that. Synthesize Me is the new MCD of Diorama and this should make it easier to endure the wait for the new album A Different Life. The titletrack ‘Synthesize Me’ is a typical Diorama song, in which the balance between melancholy and danceability is nicely done. This song is in 4 versions on this MCD though, which i think is a bit too much as i would have rather seen some more extra songs for the money instead of an extended version, a piano version and a more experimental ‘’dada’’ version with 80’s minimal influnces and vocoder vocals. The pianoversion hwoever is very beautiful and reminds of the early days of Diorama around the Pale release. Furthermore the MCD has three extra songs that actually are much nicer than the titletrack. First ‘Erase me’, which is a comp4elling song, then the dark and slightly ritual sounding ‘Truth and Movement’, and finally the heavy ‘The Rational Anthem’ which really delivers, due to not only piano, but also beats, sampling and guitars been used, which results in a very explosive yet beautiful track. Synthesize me is recommended as it has 5 good Diorama tracks and makes one very curious to the new album.
